INTRODUCTION.
Climate change is a global threat that is affecting the entire Tharaka Community. Cutting down of trees for firewood, burning charcoal for cooking and for sale is a big threat to the environment especially in Tharaka Constituency. Several NGOS and even the Government has tried to come up with various solutions to this global issue. Companies are bringing their innovations every day. This has contributed to domestic violence in the families in one way or the other
After the training and exposure in permaculture, and having a background on Agriculture, gave me a challenge to design a way to impact the community without limitations and reach the poor women and communities without restrictions. A burden is like expectancy and only expectant women understand; the rest sees pretense and that’s why they don’t see the sense of ‘eating soil and stones’. This kind of a burden led to officially registering KIBUI as CBO with the Republic of Kenya, Ministry of East Africa Community, Labour and Social Protection, Department of Social Development. establishing the Board of Management and Starting Operations.
